Life Line Screening
Life Line Screening, a leading provider of community-based preventive health screenings, is pleased to offer a preventive health event at First Presbyterian Church of Troy on 10/12/2017. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease; atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening, for men and women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis. Register for a Wellness Package which includes 4 vascular tests and osteoporosis screening from $149 ($139 with our member discount). All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. There are three ways to register for this event and to receive a $10 discount off any package priced above $129: Call toll-free 1-888-653-6441;

Holiday Happenings!
It’s never too early to announce a couple of upcoming holiday events!
We will have an Interfaith Service in our sanctuary on Sunday, November 19th at 7:00 p.m. We will be in need of volunteers to help with hospitality, setting up in the Fellowship Hall, and greeters. Watch for more information!
We will have just one service on Christmas Eve Sunday, December 24th at 5:00 p.m. The Worship Committee felt one service was best so that we may celebrate the coming of the Christ child with friends and family.

Sunday Morning Adult Education Has Begun!
Join us at 8:30 in the lounge as we watch the CD “I Am”, an intriguing look at our faith. Join in good conversation after viewing

GEMS: God’s Elegant Mature Servants
GEMS will meet on Thursday, September 28th at 12:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. The speaker will be Philip Weitlauf, Michigan War Dog Memorial with presentation including K-9 Ziva as a War Dog Representative. The menu for lunch will include chicken salad & egg salad on croissants, salads, vegetables and desserts. Please see the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside of Fellowship Hall. We would love for you to come and bring a friend! For more information, please contact Kathy Hyde or Debbie Leafdale.

Save The Date: Fun Friday
Mark your calendar for October 20th at 6:00 p.m.! We will start the evening with a spaghetti dinner (with homemade sauce). Then we can all join in on some very friendly and easy games for all ages. Plan on bringing a game of your own if you would like. Hope to see all of you there! Christian Ed. is sponsoring this event.

We have hired a new custodian to give our current cleaning crew a break! His name is Dominic and he will be here two days a week, mostly Tuesdays and Fridays. Be sure to say hi if you see him! And thanks to all of our volunteers who have, and will continue, to help as needed! We appreciate you!

September Mission Project — Presbyterian Ingathering Items Due Today!
There is a Board in the Narthex with items Presbytery has assigned our Church to provide for the 2017 Ingathering of items requested by some 30+ local agencies helping the less fortunate. Please consider purchasing one or more items indicated on the board. If you decide to participate, please take a tag off the board, purchase the item and return it to church today with the tag from the board attached and noting the value or price paid for each item. Your generosity is appreciated.
