Join us for GEMS on Thursday, Oct. 24th at 12:00 p.m. The topic will be “Travelogues” with Pastor Jasmine Smart sharing her trip to the Holy Land, Gwen Thompson on her trip to Portugal and Spain, and Mark and Sue Valentine on their travels to Rome. If you plan to attend, please see the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the narthex. The food will be provided so come and bring a friend to enjoy.
Remembering Those Who Have Come Before
Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses……”
As a way to honor our 90 years as a congregation, we have placed notices about some of our members who have passed away on the Fellowship Hall bulletin board. They have set the example for us with their faithful service to our Lord. Please feel free to add a photo or announcement of your deceased loved one who attended this church.
TPC Pantry Requests Personal Grooming Products For Holidays
Personal grooming products are a highly encouraged donation as the Holidays approach. Even dollar store sizes are useful. Any donation of non-perishable food, or paper and cleaning products is very much appreciated. Thank you!

A Proclamation from the City of Troy!
Join us tomorrow, October 21st at 7:30 p.m. at Troy City Council for a prayer and a proclamation from the city celebrating our 90 years of service in the community!
Join us in the Sanctuary for our next Movie Morning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13th to view “The Farewell”. It’s a comedy, drama about a Chinese family that discovers their grandmother has only a short while left to live and they decide to keep her in the dark, scheduling a wedding to gather before she dies. I loved this movie and thought it was funny and endearing. We will have popcorn and trivia as usual. Join us, won’t you?
Study Group at UPC or Kirk in the Hills
Starting October 23, University Presbyterian will be hosting a four-week series every Wednesday from 5:45-7:30 p.m., called “Feeding Body, Mind and Spirit” and will be discussing the congregational read, “Inspired” by Rachel Held Evans. Pastor Jasmine will be preaching on this on Sunday, November 24, so this is a good way to read and have conversations in community as a way to deepen your discipleship and connection to the Bible. Or, if you’d like to read and discuss “A Year of Biblical Womanhood”, join the Kirk at 10:00 a.m. on Fridays.
Deacons Blood Drive with the American Red Cross on October 8th: Thank you all!

The blood that we helped collect will save 45 lives! We really made a huge difference in the lives of those in need. Thank you to all of our volunteers for being HEROES to our community and supporting this effort!
Prayerfully yours, The Board of Deacons
90th Anniversary/Homecoming Celebration!

November Mission Challenge – Theme: “Be Love”
Our church, along with the Kirk and 4 other churches, are again being challenged during the month of November to complete 7000 mission hours. There will be a service opportunity November 9th from 9:00 am-12:00 pm in Oak Park, Building Beds 4 Kids.
Building Beds 4 Kids is a non-profit organization started recently by Sam and Becky Misuraca to build twin platform beds and distribute them with mattresses and sheet sets to kids who don’t have beds. The need in the metro area is great. More information to follow but I’d gladly discuss the details with you anytime.
Thank you, Becky Misuraca
Forgotten Harvest volunteer opportunities in November
The Deacons have committed to providing 8 volunteers for the Forgotten Harvest Warehouse Re-pack on Monday, November 25th from 9 am – 12 noon. If you are already a registered volunteer, you can sign up online; make sure to note you are a part of the First Presbyterian Church of Troy Team. Dress warmly! We will be in a cold room, on our feet, sorting or repacking food.
