Thank You!
The Mission Committee wants to say a big thank you to the Congregation for all the items you donated for the Presbyterian Ingathering. These items were specifically requested by 30+ local agencies that help the needy within the Detroit Presbytery’s region. Four boxes of the requested items are being delivered to Westminster Presbyterian Church on Monday for disbursement to the local agencies. Also, a thank you to Becky and Sam Misuraca for delivering the items.

Save The Date: Fun Friday
Mark your calendar for October 20th at 6:00 p.m.! We will start the evening with a spaghetti dinner (with homemade sauce). Then we can all join in on some very friendly and easy games for all ages. Plan on bringing a game of your own if you would like. Hope to see all of you there! Christian Ed. is sponsoring this event.

GEMS: God’s Elegant Mature Servants
GEMS will be meeting on Thursday, October 26 at 12:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. The speakers will be Tim & Penny Brady with highlights of their recent Australia trip. The menu for lunch will include meatloaf, salads, vegetables, rolls, and desserts. Please see the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside of Fellowship Hall. We hope to see you there! Friends are always welcome! For more information, please contact Kathy Hyde or Debbie Leafdale.

FINANCE – Per Capita
On the recommendation of the finance committee, session recently voted to make a $4,000 payment to Presbytery toward our per capita arrears of $13,000. The payment was made from the general fund. We will revisit this in six months to see if we are able to make an additional payment. For those of you that have not yet paid your 2017 per capita, please try to do so in the coming weeks. Per capita is assessed on the calendar year, not our budget year. Mission Foundation: Session voted to donate the 2017 interest from the mission foundation, in the amount of $2,139.50, to Presbytery Shared Missions. Presbytery will use this money to address missional needs both at home and abroad.

Blood Drive
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our successful American Red Cross Blood Drive on 10/10/17. As you may know from recent news stories, those units of blood were desperately needed given recent blood shortages. Here are the statistics from our blood drive:
–Actual Collection: 35 units (3 were double red donors!)
–We had 37 registered donors with 5 deferrals, and 2 donors were first time blood drive donors!
–105 hospital patients will be helped through our generosity to host this community blood drive!
Thank you for your time, talents, cookies, meal preparation, set-up, clean-up, meal serving, signage, and so many other efforts to make this such a successful blood drive!

Troy People Concerned (TPC) Welcomes Pantry Donations
As you shop for food and items you need, please remember to include an item or two for the TPC Food Pantry. Paper products and new, white socks are ALWAYS needed. Recently we learned TPC can use Kroger and Meijer food cards.
A list of suggested non-perishable items is posted on the wall above the donation basket in the narthex. Currently, cereal, ketchup, tea, and dish soap are on the Pantry’s weekly need list. Small sizes are useful, like those purchased in the dollar store. Thank you for supporting this local mission to help individuals and families who are struggling.

Holiday Happenings!
It’s never too early to announce a couple of upcoming holiday events!
We will have an Interfaith Service in our sanctuary on Sunday, November 19th at 7:00 p.m. We will be in need of volunteers to help with hospitality, setting up in the Fellowship Hall, and greeters. Watch for more information!
We will have just one service on Christmas Eve Sunday, December 24th at 5:00 p.m. The Worship Committee felt one service was best so that we may celebrate the coming of the Christ child with friends and family.

Mark Your Calendar with these Upcoming Events:
-October 20th, Fun Friday, 6:00 p.m.
-October 25th, Book Group, 7:00 p.m.
