Movie Morning
Join us in the Sanctuary for our next Movie Morning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13th to view “The Farewell”. It’s a comedy, drama about a Chinese family that discovers their grandmother has only a short while left to live and they decide to keep her in the dark, scheduling a wedding to gather before she dies. I loved this movie and thought it was funny and endearing. We will have popcorn and trivia as usual. Join us, won’t you?

Flowers
The flowers in the sanctuary this morning are given by Jim and Verna Meinershagen, in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary on November 1. Congratulations!

November Mission Challenge – Theme: “Be Love”
Our church, along with the Kirk and 4 other churches, are again being challenged during the month of November to complete 7000 mission hours. There will be a service opportunity this Saturday, November 9th from 9:00 am-12:00 pm in Oak Park, Building Beds 4 Kids.
Building Beds 4 Kids is a non-profit organization started recently by Sam and Becky Misuraca to build twin platform beds and distribute them with mattresses and sheet sets to kids who don’t have beds. The need in the metro area is great. More information to follow but I’d gladly discuss the details with you anytime.
Thank you, Becky Misuraca

Forgotten Harvest volunteer opportunities in November
The Deacons would like to recruit 5 more volunteers to help with our commitment to work at Forgotten Harvest, Monday November 25, 9 am-12 pm. Currently we have Louise, Ruth and Debbie L. Forgotten Harvest has listed the time slot as full because we (I) have promised 8 people (hopefully!). You can also invite friends and family ages 12 and up. (Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.) If you are already a registered volunteer, you can sign up online; make sure to note you are a part of the First Presbyterian Church of Troy Team. For more information, visit: forgottenharvest.org/volunteer/. Dress warmly! We will be in a cold room, on our feet, sorting or repacking food.

Other Volunteer Hours Opportunities
-English Conversation Workshop:
An opportunity to attain volunteer hours toward the November Service Challenge with the Kirk is available at the English Conversation Workshop, this Saturday, November 9, from 10 am to 12 noon. There is a need for 2 to 4 people. See Karen Lake or Leanne Prescott if you’re interested.

-Sewing Guild:
American Sewing Guild, led by Joyce Jarnick, is open to volunteers joining their gathering this Thursday, November 7, at 7pm. They will be making headbands and scarves for the homeless for homeless veterans and taking them to Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program in Detroit. You can bring your sewing machine to work, or show up and help cut the fabric. Contact Joyce if you plan on attending!

Book Group
The next Book Group meeting will be on Wednesday, December 4th, at 7:00 pm. We will discuss Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. All are welcome!

Let us know!
On Sunday, November 17, the service will be a “Hymn Sing.”. If you have any favorites that you’d like to sing that day, please let Mary Ann Fischer know!

Per Capita
Our final 2019 per capita payment of approximately $800 will be made in November. If you have not yet paid your per capita ($29.00 per member), please try to do so in the coming weeks.
