A Note From Ann and Bill
Have you ever been a part of an event where you needed lots of volunteers to make it work? We hope you are shaking your heads in the affirmative as so many of you made Sunday evening’s celebration a labor of love. Words come flowing into our minds: hospitality, friendliness, acceptance, generosity, sharing of time and talents.
Indeed you each and all are one amazing group of people serving our Lord and Savior. We have said it before and may be saying it over and over again “thanks and thanks again!” Your pastors are proud of and grateful for you all.

A Note From Sharon Goeman
A big thank you to everyone for helping out to make Sunday’ s Interfaith event a big success! Thanks to those who came early to help set up, thanks to the greeters and kitchen crew and thanks to those who stayed late to help clean up. Thanks also to those who brought delicious finger foods that were shared with our diverse community. And a huge thanks to Penny for pulling this all together with audio and visual displays. We could not have done this without you.

Advent Happenings
There are Advent Devotional booklets available for these weeks of Advent. In the short introduction, Magdalena J. Garcia writes: “Advent is the time when we remember that God sent Jesus, the Logos, the Word Incarnate, to speak more eloquently than ever before about God’s vision and ways…May Advent teach us to embrace each other’s stories and to speak the language of love.”
PLEASE PICK UP A COPY TO USE IN THE MONTH AHEAD. ONE PER HOUSEHOLD!

Adult Discussion For Advent – 11:15 On Sundays
Pick up a snack and coffee and then join us for sharing time. We will meet three Sundays, December 3rd, 10th, and 17th! Ann will lead the discussion on the 3rd around the subject of “Whose Birthday Is It Anyway?” and simplifying the holidays. On the 10th and 17th, we are inviting you to bring your devotional booklets and share your questions and/or a reading that was especially meaningful.

Per Capita Update
As we near the end of the year, this is a reminder for those of you that have not yet paid your 2017 per capita. Our per capita payment supports the Presbyterian Synod and General Assembly, as well as the Detroit Presbytery. Per capita pays for administrative costs and also supports many grants that are directed back to individual congregations. You can check with the church office to see if you have paid your 2017 per capita.

Book Group
Book Group will meet on November 29th (5th Wednesday) to discuss Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout. Book group meets at 7:00 p.m. and all are welcome!

GEMS: God’s Elegant Mature Servants
GEMS will meet on Thursday, December 7th at 12:30 p.m. (Please note the time change for this date only.) Once again, the Troy High School Choir will be singing Christmas carols. Lunch will include ham, turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. There are two sign-up sheets on the bulletin board in the narthex. Please sign up if you plan to attend, and if you can bring salads, vegetables, and desserts. And as always, extra cookies are requested for the hungry singers!

Christmas Eve Sunday
We will have just one service on Christmas Eve Sunday, December 24th at 5:00 p.m. (There will be no morning service.) The Worship Committee felt one service was best so that we may celebrate the coming of the Christ child with friends and family.
