Vacation Bible School at Kirk in the Hills, August 13-16
The VBS theme is Amped: Live Fully Alive! Registration for VBS is open and due by August 5th. Go to kirkinthehills.org under Resources/ Online Registration to enroll your children. There is also a need for volunteers who seek to make this an amazing week for all of God’s children! Do you love to see the light of Christ shine in the eyes of a child as they delight in God’s love? Don’t miss out on this powerful week of ministry! Contact Kecelyn Santiago at ksantiago@kirkinthehills.org.

Sermon Discussion Group
Starting Tuesday, August 7th at 2:00 pm, join Pastor Jasmine each week at Barnes and Noble in Rochester Hills (2800 S Rochester Rd) to discuss the scripture passage for the upcoming Sunday sermon at Troy First. Come occasionally or come weekly as you are able, each session stands alone. Participants will be given the chance to be reflecting on the scripture throughout the week and hear insights from one another. Notes from the discussion will be passed to the preacher that week, so see if your insight makes it into the sermon!

“Bedding For Kids”
The deacons have decided to support a mission project for kids through the Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan. We want to help local children at-risk get a healthy start by supplying much needed bed linens.
Each week the Furniture Bank provides twin beds to more than 15 local children but is not able to supply linens. These kids belong to families who are living in poverty, transitioning from homelessness, working with child protective services or fleeing a crisis and abusive environment. You can help our mission by donating a New Twin Bedding Set, (top sheet, bottom sheet, pillowcase, comforter and sham) for a “Bedding Drive”. Bedding is needed for ages 2-18 years of age.
We will be collecting through the month of August but there is a continuing need; therefore, anytime is greatly appreciated and needed. You can contact Becky Misuraca or Nancy Sisunik for more information if interested in donating.
Thank you! Your Deacons

MISSION PROJECT: School Backpacks and Supplies for Middle School Students
We plan to provide 7 backpacks with required school supplies for middle school students (grade 6/7). These backpacks will be distributed to needy Troy school children via Troy People Concerned at their annual pre-school event. If you are interested in participating, please see the Backpack Project Board. The Board will be in fellowship hall or the Narthex depending on where we hold service. The tags on the board indicate the items needed. Please take one or more tags, buy the item(s) listed and return item(s) with the tag(s) from the board attached. We need to know the value of the items, so please write the dollar value of the item on the tag. All items must be returned on or before August 5. Remember — look for sales; also, a number of items can be purchased at dollar stores or Five Below such as inexpensive iPad headphones/ear buds. Your participation is appreciated.
Thank you! Your Deacons

Ephesians Sermon Series
We began a summer sermon series on July 15 on the book of Ephesians that will continue through the end of August. The apostle Paul is writing this letter in order to tell a story, God’s story, of the creation of the world, Christ’s saving work on the cross, and the growth and unity of the church. Like the original recipients of the letter, we are invited to place ourselves in this story too, so let us consider together how we can live out these principles individually and as a church community.

Can You Hear Me Now?
Our sound system for the sanctuary has been upgraded and all new microphones purchased. This is the first upgrade since it was installed 30 years ago. This was made possible by memorial donations, most recently in memory of Bob Hyde.
