Lenten Daily Devotionals
Beginning this Wednesday, through the season of Lent, please watch your email for a Lenten Daily Devotional from the Kirk. These devotionals are written by members of First Pres Troy, the Kirk, and mission partners of the Kirk, including Hope Against Trafficking, Micah 6 Community, and Pontiac Community Foundation. These devotionals are truly intergenerational, as the writers are teenagers through octogenarians! If you do not receive these emails, please let the office know.
Giving During Lent
During Lent, we will be participating in a food drive for Gleaners, so please consider bringing food items as a Lenten discipline. And we are still supporting Troy People Concerned, so consider bringing toiletries for that organization, too.
Ash Wednesday Services, February 26
Join together with Northminster and Central Woodward Christian Church for Ash Wednesday services here at Troy. There will be a 12:00pm service in Fellowship Hall that will include a soup and bread lunch afterward. There will also be an evening service at 7:00pm that will be held in the sanctuary. Please see the narthex bulletin board to sign up for the noon lunch.
First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham is having its annual Mission Expo this Thursday, February 27, at 6:00 pm. Welcome Inn, Southwest Detroit Immigrant and Refugee Center, and Grandparents Raising Grandchildren have all been invited to present at the event this year. Some of our members have volunteered at the Welcome Inn, and a speaker from Southwest Detroit Immigrant and Refugee Center joined us last year.
This is a chance to learn about local mission work and raise money for the organizations. The evening will begin with a dinner during which each organization will present their story. After dinner everyone will get the chance to buy votes for $10 each and then cast your votes for your favorite group. The organization that comes in third place will receive 20% of the money raised from the sale of votes, second place will get 30%, and first place takes home 50%. To learn more and to register, visit: http://www.fpcbirmingham.org/mission-expo.html
