Bulletin Board Ready to Post Your Holiday Greeting Cards
If you would like to post a greeting card to extend Holiday wishes to members and friends in our church family, the small bulletin board on the south, or outer, wall of the Fellowship Hall has been decorated to display them.

“Celebrating 90 Years” Photos Can be Posted for Others To See
Two 90th anniversary bulletin boards have been prepared to receive your photos celebrating our important Anniversary:
The large “Celebrating 90 Years” board in the back hallway and the smaller Fellowship Hall Board near the entrance to the kitchen are ready for you to post photos that you feel bring back memories of years past at First Presbyterian Church of Troy. Push pins are provided at the boards for you to add your photos. Be sure and write your name (and a year) on the back, so we can return them to you.

Advent Begins
This Sunday begins the season of Advent, in which we remember the coming of Christ into the world and look forward to his coming again. Like the season of Lent, Advent can be a season of preparation and active (not passive) waiting. There is a mix of rejoicing and lament in advent as we remember with excitement the miracle of Christ coming into the world, but we also mourn the ways God’s kingdom is not yet fully realized in our midst. Whatever emotions you approach this holiday season with, may God’s hope, peace, joy and love be with you always.

Advent Devotional Calendars Available Today
This Advent season, the CE Team will provide each church family with a special devotional calendar to invite us to pray and deepen our Advent experience. The title of this year’s calendar is God Lifts the Lowly and will feature paintings and poems created by Andrew Weatherly, a young Presbyterian man born with Down Syndrome. Three discussions of the readings and your reaction to them will be hosted from 11:30 – 12:15 on December 9, 16, and 23. Pick up a treat from Coffee Hour and join us in the west Sunday School room. Nancy Sisunik has made a special mini-clothes pin bookmark to use with each calendar. We hope they will help you remember a focus on Mary in her song of Praise, Luke 1:46- 53.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
Please join Pastor Jasmine for our annual Christmas Eve service on Monday, December 24th at 5:00 p.m.

Mission — Bring Him A Gift (Christmas)
Our Church will be providing Christmas gifts for three local families in need. If you have taken one or more tags from the Bring Him A Gift Board in the Narthex, please keep the tag and attach it to your wrapped gift. This will enable us to make sure each gift has the right person’s name and it goes to the proper family. Please note on the tag the fair market value of the item you purchased, as we will need to report to Presbytery the dollar amount we donated.

Please return your wrapped gift(s) with the tag(s) from the board attached and estimated value(s) by no later than December 16. We will be delivering gifts to the families that Sunday after Church. Thank you in advance for helping make someone’s Christmas brighter. ~Mission Committee – Deacons

Movie Morning
The next Movie Morning is set for Wednesday, December 12 and we will be going out to a movie with lunch following at Olive Garden. The tentative movie is “Instant Family” starring Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne. It’s about a couple who find themselves in over their heads when they adopt three children. It’s rated PG-13 and is a comedy, drama. The movie is currently showing at Emagine Theater in Rochester Hills (behind Best Buy). More information will follow on time and verifying that it’s still showing on that date.

GEMS: God’s Elegant Mature Servants
Join us on Thursday, December 6th at 12:30 p.m. as we greet the Troy High School choir, under the direction of Adrienne Covian, for their annual visit with us! The Troy High School students will be singing special holiday songs. Lunch will include ham, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, salads and desserts. Please see the sign-up sheet in the narthex. Join us and bring a friend! Hope to see you there!
