Special Worship Service August 13th
Session has appointed a Strategic Planning Committee to look at possibilities for our future as a church.
As part of worship on Sunday, August 13th, this committee will share information with you that it has learned.
This will be an important and unique service. We hope you can join us at 10:00 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.
Annual Reports Due
If you were a committee chairperson anytime between the months of January 2016 and June 2017, please submit your reports for the Annual Meeting to Penny in the office. The Annual Meeting of the Congregation will take place on September 10, 2017.
The Heat Is On
But it won’t be for long. Before you know it, those cold north winds will begin to blow, and the homeless men and women in Oakland County will need food, clothing and shelter.
With your help, we plan to again help stock the clothing closet of the Welcome Inn Day Program.
Men’s jeans, long johns and underwear are always needed. As are tote bags, rolling bags, backpacks; anything the guests can use to help corral and transport their few belongings. Needed items for women include hoodies and warm tops.
If you are cleaning out closets, please set aside anything you think could be useful. And watch this bulletin for more information as we go into the fall season to learn how you can help the homeless.
Questions or thoughts? Please see Gwen Thompson or Susan Mann. And thank you in advance for your support.
Troy People Concerned Food Pantry
So far this summer, our congregation has contributed generously to the CE Cereal for Summer and the Deacon Backpack collections. Now, let us once again remember the TPC Food Pantry, a local food source for those in need. Below are the items that the TPC Food Pantry lists as current needs, but any non-perishable food and paper, cleaning, or personal hygiene products are welcome… even the motel size shampoos etc.
Thank you for your continued support of this local mission.
Cleaning products (small sizes from dollar store are fine.)
The book group will be meeting later this summer. On Wednesday, August 23rd, we will be discussing Clara and Mr. Tiffany by Susan Vreeland. New readers are always welcome! We will discuss Gone With the Wind on September 27th if enough people read or reread it over the summer–a great read for the summer months!
