Strategic Planning Committee
A lot of information was presented on August 13th regarding options for the future of our church. If you have questions, comments, or if you need more information on anything you heard, please contact anyone on the committee, or send an email to the church and let us know. Packets of information can be emailed to you, or picked up at church. We will have more time to discuss the information at our Annual Meeting of the Congregation on Sunday, September 10th. However, if you have questions before then, we encourage you to submit them prior to that date so they may be compiled and presented in a meaningful way at that meeting.

Committee members include: Wayne Goeman, Gene Williams, Jim Meinershagen, Dick Leary, Frank Gerstenecker, Revs. Ann and Bill Robertson, and Penny Brady. Please contact anyone on the committee if you are interested in being a part of the Strategic Planning Committee. More people and ideas are always welcome!

Movie Morning Returns!
Movie Morning is back (after a summer recess) with a blockbuster movie! Join us in the Sanctuary at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13th for “La La Land” starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. While waiting for their big breaks, two L.A. dreamers, a suavely-charming, soft-spoken jazz pianist and a brilliant, vivacious playwright, attempt to reconcile aspirations and relationships in a magical old-school romance. Stone won an Academy Award for her performance. We will also have trivia and popcorn. Come join in all the fun.

Book Group
We will discuss Gone With the Wind on September 27th if enough people read or reread it over the summer–a great read for the summer months!

Sunday School
The Fall Lessons Theme for Sunday School lessons will be: God desires us to have what we need. We will be studying the life of David from boyhood to King. Note the CE bulletin board in the back hallway to see David slay the giant Goliath and how God gave him what he needed.

The Fall dates for Sunday school will be:
September 24th, October 8th and 22nd, November 12th and 19th

MISSION PROJECTS:
-A BIG THANK YOU TO THE CONGREGATION FOR THE SCHOOL SUPPLIES!
A total of 5 backpacks filled with supplies required for 4th grade were donated by our congregation to Troy People Concerned for their 2017 backpack distribution party. The estimated value of the 5 back packs was approximately $315.00. You can see that it is expensive for families with limited income to provide all the school supplies needed, especially if they have multiple children. Five backpacks may not seem like a lot, but they are appreciated by TPC and the families that receive them. Thank you also to Louise and Garth Glazier, Nancy Sisunik, and Bob Jackson who loaded the backpacks after Church on July 30th.

-AUGUST/SEPTEMBER MISSION PROJECT — PRESBYTERIAN INGATHERING
There is a Board in the Narthex with items Presbytery has assigned our Church to provide for the 2017 Ingathering of items requested by some 30+ local agencies helping the less fortunate. Please consider purchasing one or more items indicated on the board. If you decide to participate, please take a tag off the board, purchase the item and return it to church by September 24th with the tag from the board attached and noting the value or price paid for each item. Your generosity is appreciated.
