Movie Morning
Please join us Wednesday, December 13th. We will be going to the MJR Theater (at Maple and Livernois, time to be determined) to see “Wonder”, a new movie starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay. Based on the New York Times bestseller, Wonder tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters fifth grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time.

Then, it’s on to Olive Garden for a festive holiday lunch. Hope you can join us. Oh, yeah, there will probably be some trivia at lunch!

Congregational Meeting
There will be a brief Congregational Meeting before worship today to place the following names of Elders & Deacons into nomination, and to elect a nominating committee. We will also ordain/install.
Class of 2020 Elders: Ruth Fedor (2), Garth Glazier (1), Ed Leafdale (1)
Class of 2020 Deacons: Louise Glazier (2), Verna Meinershagen (2), Nancy Sisunik (2),
Joyce Jarnick (1)

Christmas Mission Project– Bring Him A Gift
Please wrap the gift you selected to buy and attach the tag you pulled from the Bring Him a Gift board to the gift and write on it the original retail price of the gift. This way we can keep track of what each gift contains, which family and person it goes to, as well as report to Presbytery the value of the goods donated. All gifts need to be returned by no later than Sunday morning December 17. We will deliver the gifts to the families on the 17th. You can know you are helping make Christmas a little merrier and brighter for three families in Troy needing some help this year.
Thank you from the Deacons.

Thanks very much!
Thank you to Ed Glac, Ed Leafdale, his brother Bud, his son-in-law Sergio, and his grandson Jayden, for constructing our Nativity scene in front of the church. We appreciate all of your efforts!

Advent Happenings
There are Advent Devotional booklets available for these weeks of Advent. In the short introduction, Magdalena J. Garcia writes: “Advent is the time when we remember that God sent Jesus, the Logos, the Word Incarnate, to speak more eloquently than ever before about God’s vision and ways…May Advent teach us to embrace each other’s stories and to speak the language of love.”

Adult Discussion For Advent – 11:15 On Sundays
Pick up a snack and coffee and then join us for sharing time. We will meet three Sundays, December 3rd, 10th, and 17th! Ann will lead the discussion on the 3rd around the subject of “Whose Birthday Is It Anyway?” and simplifying the holidays. On the 10th and 17th, we are inviting you to bring your devotional booklets and share your questions and/or a reading that was especially meaningful.

Per Capita Update
As we near the end of the year, this is a reminder for those of you that have not yet paid your 2017 per capita. Our per capita payment supports the Presbyterian Synod and General Assembly, as well as the Detroit Presbytery. Per capita pays for administrative costs and also supports many grants that are directed back to individual congregations. You can check with the church office to see if you have paid your 2017 per capita.

The flowers this morning are in honor of my 72nd birthday and I am so happy to be here to celebrate with all of my wonderful church family. Love, Ruth

Sharing Holiday Greeting Cards:
If you would like to share a Holiday greeting card with our church family, please post it on the Fellowship Hall Bulletin Board next to the kitchen. Everyone will be able to read the greetings better there on the Board and it will leave more room on the Narthex Mitten Tree for your generously donated winter gloves and hats.

Christmas Eve Sunday
We will have just one service on Christmas Eve Sunday, December 24th at 5:00 p.m. (There will be no morning service.) The Worship Committee felt one service was best so that we may celebrate the coming of the Christ child with friends and family.

Mark Your Calendar with these Upcoming Events:
-December 10th, Troy-Area Clergy Group Christmas/Advent Program, 4:00 p.m., Pilgrim Congregational Church, 3061 N. Adams, Bloomfield Hills, 48304
-December 13th, Movie Morning
-December 24th, Christmas Eve, one service at 5:00 p.m.
